Introduction to paperboard

Paper and paperboard is recognized mainly by its weight. Other qualities are usually concerns of the consumers. Weight of the paper is measured by grams Per square meter. Weights of 50 gms/m2  upto 180 gms/m2  are recognized as paper, while more than 250 gms/m2  is called paperboard, or cardboard. Papers that cannot be bent are called chipboards. Writing papers are normally 60 to 80 gms/m2 depending on their use and qualities, paperboards are named differently for example test liners are used for making corrugated board, cardboard is used to make paper tubes, etc. Multilayers of paperboard glued together can be used as construction material.
